FOZL Group is proud to have participated in Exercise Helix, an Emergency Preparedness exercise organised by SMRT Trains at City Hall MRT Station as part of Exercise SG Ready 2025.

 

In collaboration with NEXUS (MINDEF), SCDF, and SPF, this large-scale exercise engaged 300 community members in a realistic rail detrainment scenario, equipping them with essential emergency response skills.

 

The Scenario: A cyberattack crippled Singapore’s power grid, triggering a nationwide blackout.

A train stalled inside the tunnel between City Hall and Raffles Place stations due to a sudden loss of traction power.

Fire alarms activated at both stations—but no visible fire was detected.

With the train immobilized and fire alarms sounding, the Operations Control Centre initiated an emergency evacuation via the nearest escape shaft.

 

Swift & Coordinated Response SMRT Trains staff, together with TransCom and SCDF, worked seamlessly to execute the quickest and safest evacuation of all passengers. Their dedication and teamwork ensured a smooth and secure detrainment process, reinforcing the importance of readiness in crisis situations.

 

This was FOZL Group’s first participation in a Total Defence exercise, and it was an invaluable experience that strengthened our commitment to national resilience. Witnessing agencies, partners, and the community come together to prepare for real-world emergencies was truly inspiring.
