If your company has sent you to work in Singapore, you may be eligible for a work permit, which includes the Singapore Employment Pass (EP). Here is all you need to know about EP applications.
What is an employment pass?
The Employment Pass (EP) is a Singapore work visa issued by the Ministry of Manpower to foreign professional employees, managers and owners or directors of Singapore companies. This work visa allows you to live and work in Singapore and travel in and out of the country without applying for an entry visa.
The employment pass is usually valid for 1-2 years, and can be renewed afterward. Having an EP can also qualify you to apply for permanent residence status (PR) in Singapore in the future.
How to obtain an employment pass?
The Employment Pass is for foreign professionals who:
- Have a job offer in Singapore.
- Work in a managerial, executive or specialised job.
- Earn a fixed monthly salary of at least $4,500 (older, more experienced candidates need higher salaries).
- Have acceptable qualifications, usually a good university degree, professional qualifications or specialised skills.
Please note that these are general guidelines – the authorities will review all employment permit applications before approval. There is no limit to the number of EPs granted to employees in Singapore companies.
